MINDFUL MEETING PRACTICE
Every meeting is an opportunity to allow your employees to be seen and heard. This mindfulness practice is a great way to pause, connect, and start to build a language of vulnerability in the workplace.
This mindfulness practice is intended to be used as an opener for a meeting.
Share a check-in prompt
Be open and curious to share in one word how you are feeling in this moment.
Describe a weather pattern that best describes how you are feeling in this moment. i.e. partly cloudy and sunny
Name an animal that best describes how you are feeling. i.e. a kitten (feeling sleepy)
Virtual integration: chatbox or a poll.
In-person integration: go around the room giving everyone an opportunity to share their voice.
Always an option to pass with listening valued just as much as sharing.
Short Mindful Breathing exercise
Get in a comfortable seated position and offer rest and relaxation.
Take 5 intentional breaths of any size, or if the breath is not accessible or safe just be here to rest, taking your time.
Closing Mindfulness Practice
Share how you are feeling in one or two words what you are feeling now.
Some people will experience a positive change or no change at all (common for the mind to continue to wander or feel restless). Allow this practice to invite acceptance and non-judgment. Using the pause to take in new information to learn how to better support the self.
